Me-FormalHi, I am Bradley J. Reece.  Thank you for taking an interest in me and my site.  I try to approach everything with youthful enthusiasm tempered by the wisdom of my progressing years. I believe, like many others, that you should enjoy every moment of your life. To that end, I like to surround myself with fantastic people and participate in fulfilling activities. So far I am fortunate enough to have great friends, a loving and healthy family, a beautiful wife, a great kid, a job that I love, and some really fun hobbies. Life is good.

For work, I am an IT professional specializing in web technologies and business intelligence.  I started my IT career in 1997 as a data analyst and eventually developed a passion for database and web development.  Through the years I have had the opportunity to work on a lot of really interesting projects, helping folks use technology to solve everyday business problems.  My favorite aspect of the job is design.  I really enjoy the process of matching the solution to individual customer needs and really putting the human element into the end product.  In that respect, my general philosophy is that design is never an afterthought.  It should permeate every aspect of the product from the maintainability of the back-end database to the front-end user experience the customer has when they log in.  To that end, I am also a very firm believer in the power of creativity.

Creativity can solve almost any problem.  The creative act, the defeat of habit by originality, overcomes everything.  – George Lois

That is one of my favorite quotes. I often recite that to myself as a mantra when I get stuck on a particular problem. It seems to work really well in that I can usually solve the problem, but more in that the solution usually ends up being pretty innovative and well tuned to the customer’s needs.  I love when that happens; it’s what gets me out of bed each day!
